THE DOREEN MERRIFIELD SCHOLARSHIP An additional bursary in memory of Doreen Merrifield will be awarded in 2012 again for a student aged between 11 and 17 years to attend the European Youth Summer School at Haileybury College in Hertford following the success of this award in 2011. However, the Speech & Drama Summer course is not taking place is 2012 and the Committee are offering 2 places to a musician this year. Details are on the Music Page . |

Championships |
The Festival offers both Junior (15 years & under) and Senior (16 years & over) Championships in Speech and Drama. Classes include Poetry, drama, Shakespeare, Lyric, Prose and Party Pieces. |
Contemporary Classes |
Television Newsreading and Bedtime Story Reading are popular classes in this section reflecting the modern approach to Speech and Drama as well as the more classical classes. |

The Festival has solo classes for Public Speaking, Dramatic, Improvisation, Mime, Religious Text Reading, Composition, Sight Reading, Poetry, Party Pieces, Shakespeare Solos and Prose Speaking as well as the Contemporary ones shown above. Classes for duologues and groups are also available |
Radio Classes Regrettably the live radio interviewing class has been withdrawn. Other Radio classes are conducted in a private studio and not in front of a listening audience. |
Bible Classes We would like to remind competitors that the Own Choice classes in this section are in no way restricted to Bible readings and can be from any religious text |
